About Chuck Briggs

Chuck Briggs is a Jim McLean certified Instructor, currently working as an assistant golf professional and lead teacher at a private golf club just outside Washington DC. Before moving back to DC Chuck spent 3 years with the Jim McLean golf school, Miami location.  He started as an assistant to the golf school at the beautiful  Biltmore golf club in the winter of 2020.  At the end of his first season, Jim McLean approached Chuck and asked if he would come back and be his personal assistant that next season. Chuck spent 10 months working as Jim McLean’s personal assistant, he was present in every lesson, every meeting and any travel of Jim’s.

Golf has always been Chuck’s greatest passion.  He was introduced to the game by his father, Charlie Briggs, when he was around 14.  He was a late bloomer, but got good fast and was able to play 4 years of division I collegiate golf at Saint Joes University in Philadelphia, PA.  All through college Chuck caddied whenever he could, whether it was at Merion (regularly), Pine valley (for tournaments) or making a drive back home to Burning Tree (regularly) he was always on the golf course.  After he graduated in May of 2019, head pro Scott Nye at Merion Golf Club hired Chuck as an intern assistant and he worked there in the summers of 2020-21.

Chuck’s talent and love for the game must have stemmed from his fathers jeans, as he was a fine young professional player in his own right, and still holds one of the best club professional jobs in America. Chucks dad Charlie actually worked for Jim as well in his day for 5 winters. This was in Jim’s early years at Doral.

Chuck continues to work hard and learn more everyday. When he is not teaching he is researching.  All teachers under Jim’s umbrella do frequent swing studies of the top players to see what they are doing in their golf swings. We use these common observations as fundamentals in our teaching. Video and Trackman are his main tools, he loves to teach someone who wants to get better and is willing to put in the work to get there.

Lastly, Chuck was hugely involved in the marketing side of things at the golf school, especially with the use of social Media.  Whether it is instructional videos, teaching moments or just great content, he’s doing it.
